Push Up Progression

So I know as girls, it's definitely difficult to do full sets of regular push-ups. I used to barely be able to do 5! But it just takes consistency & dedication. Push-ups not only work your arms (triceps specifically), but they:

  • Work those abs! Attack push-ups & you're simultaneously attacking the core :)
  • Increase heart rate (once you can rep out a few, they get your heart rate up, burning calories!
  • Are the perfect exercise to do between sets of "something" - at the gym, I love to do a set of squats, then rep out 10 push-ups, technically "resting" my legs, but keeping my heart rate up & working other parts of my core.

NOTE: I understand that some girls think they have to do push-ups on their knees to gain strength. This is okay, but I'd rather you follow this progression & stay away from your knees. You ARE stronger than you think! In my opinion, it's better to do more sets of less reps of incline or regular push-ups, than many push-ups on your knees.
