HIIT Gym Workout

So I had an awesome workout at the gym this morning - I don't think I've sweat that much in awhile! Here it is:

Warm-up: 5-7 minutes on elliptical, Level 1

Treadmill Intervals: 45 seconds "on", 15 seconds "off"; 10 sprints = 10 minutes

  • If you are comfortable with grabbing the sides of the treadmill & just jumping your feet to the sides while the belt is still running, you'll get the most out of this rather than trying to move the Speed level up & down
    • I started at 8.5 for the first 5 sprints & then bumped up to 9.0
    • Incline: 2.0

Core Workout: I did Phase 4 of my Guide to Shredded Abs & phew! (15-20 minutes) If you're interested check it out under SHOP 

Hips: I used the weight pulley machine, lowered it to the floor & hooked on a regular black strap... I put the strap around my ankle, weight at 10 lbs & did Hip Abduction (away from body), Adduction (toward body) & Extension (Leg back working on glutes) (5 minutes)

  • I did 2 sets of 10 of each exercise on both legs

Legs: Immediately after finishing hips, I did 15 jump squats, 15 jump lunges (each leg) & 15 jump squats (little rest between) (3 minutes

And as if that wasn't enough for my butt & legs...

Stairmaster "Cool Down": 10 minutes on Level 10 of stairmaster

Stretch & Sauna: I love finishing off in the Sauna & stretching for 5-10 minutes.

Total Time: approx. 1 hour
