My 3 go-to Back stretches

Many of us sit A LOT each day. No matter how often we try to get up & walk around a bit, the amount of time we sit is almost guaranteed to be more than the time we spend moving. Because of this, our hips & back tend to tighten up.

Today, I'm sharing 3 of my favorite back stretches with the first one including a hip opener as well (more of these another day!), but FIRST be sure you are warm. Don't attempt to complete these stretches as soon as you get out of bed or after being in an air-conditioned office for many hours. Walk for at least 5 minutes before & if possible, do some jumping jacks, high knees, jogging in place, etc. to get your blood flowing.

Then, once you are warm, start these stretches off nice & easy. Don't try to push yourself into a certain range of motion just because you were able to reach it the other day. Our flexibility varies on a daily basis, so don't push yourself too much right away! That may just result in an injury & that is far from what we are hoping for!

So with each stretch, take your time, stretching each side gently at first for about 15 seconds. Then, when doing a second round, push yourself a little further in the range (as long as it just feels like a good stretch, not pain!) & hold for 20 seconds each side. NOW, on the third round you can increase your time to 30 seconds & continue to push a little further in range.

Now that those important pieces of info are relayed, here are the stretches :)
